#23 COMPUTER DELETIONS

For the past month I've been hard at work on 3 projects, two of which took me away from writing more posts here.
Project #1. Here I am seven years past full retirement age, and I think I finally have enough combined earnings from Canada and the US to qualify for US Social Security benefits under the Totalization Agreement between the two countries. I completed two applications. The first was the standard Social Security form; the second application dealt with my Canadian information. The package of documents contains 30-plus pages so tomorrow I'm taking it to the Social Security office near Tampa. It's a 35 mile drive each way.
I have no idea what answers I'll receive to my questions. How much will the benefit be? Will I have to relinquish my Canada Pension and Old Age Security? Will there be any retroactive funds? When will I start receiving benefits? My guess is that I may have only enough SS income to cover my monthly HOA fees and not much else. I will certainly be happy if it's more.
Two good things: a. I learned that because of my age, I could still earn any amount of income without having my benefits reduced. b. While hunting for all the documents I was able to throw out some old tax files which emptied two file boxes.
Project #2. Because I will not be eligible for Medicare benefits under the Totalization Agreement I am once again applying for Medicaid.I've been denied 3 times for reasons I've not understood. It was time to apply for a renewal of SNAP benefits so I sent in 10 pages of documents to prove my financial position. I hope to learn DCF Florida's decision by the end of this month (August).
I don't like having to apply for welfare benefits, but if my Speaker Agency takes off in 2024, perhaps then I'll have enough income to afford to pay Health Insurance Premiums.
Project #3. Both my computer and laptop have been so clogged that I was having trouble uploading anything to the Internet. So I did the following to free up space on both devices:
- Deleted many duplicate documents,
- Moved hundreds of documents to an external hard drive,
- Deleted 200+ browser tabs,
- Deleted dozens of documents from both desktops,
- Moved songs from iTunes onto CDs,
- Backed up photos to a Photo Stick.
Work still to be done:
- Listen to and delete podcasts,
- Delete 100s of bookmarks,
- Read and remove articles saved for book and article research,
- Clean up my Facebook page to reflect my book writing and speaking,
- Remove items from iCloud,
- Remove items from Google Drive.
Will this ever end? (I blame it on my previous laziness.)
