#19 TIFFANY STERLING SILVER

UPDATE: Replacements.com has offered me $432.00 for it. I decided no.

This Tiffany & Co Sterling silver fruit dish was a wedding gift to my grandmother, or perhaps it was given to her as an engagement gift. This piece was most likely produced in 1902, which would make it about 120 years old. It's twelve inches across.

For safety, this bowl is not stored in my home.

I must sell it as I have
no heirs and nobody has asked to receive it in my Will. I'd love to get at least $2,000 for it... The estimate on my upcoming dental bill will be $1,750. I will offer it on eBay and also to Replacements.com If you scroll down to the bottom of this post you'll see a screen shot from an antiques dealer's website of a similar bowl, but three inches smaller, with an asking price of $4,250.

My grandmother's maiden name was Florence Helene Koller (FHK). Then she became John Louis "Lou" Reynolds' wife. She and my grandfather married in 1904 and they ran a rooming house in Westfield New Jersey. (This may be where I got the bed & breakfast gene.) I remember seeing this bowl on their sideboard, and I suspect it may have seen a lot of use from their boarders. There is a small, almost unnoticeable dent in the top, about the two o'clock mark.

I inherited the Tiffany bowl when my grandmother died. I was 12. I have not used it in these 60+ years, but have carried it from place to place as I've moved.
