#24 FACEBOOK DELETIONS

There are multiple reasons why I'll start deleting posts and pictures from my Facebook page.

1. Many of the posts I've
shared that turn up in my Facebook Memories are no longer visible on the original poster's page.

2. Many posts are
irrelevant. I attended a webinar in which the expert recommended removing what doesn't apply to your current work. You know, silly stuff. This way the page supports and promotes my work.

3. Some of the posts are meant
for my eyes only. If someone becomes my digital legacy person that person will see items that I didn't want anyone else to see... unless I remove them now. (No example here.)

4. I don't have a
digital legacy person (so far): a trusted person who will memorialize my page when I'm gone. If the page stays up when I'm gone, I'd like it to have only basic stuff on it.

5. Not only will I remove some posts, memes, and photos, but I will also go through a big pile of
saved posts that I've collected in about 30 or 40 categories.

6. And lastly, this exercise will give me an opportunity to see what I've posted since 2008. Some of it may trigger a memory for my memoir.

Update: Each day Facebook sends me memories of previous years from that day. That's a perfect opportunity to save a post that's useful for a future book, and delete those of no interest. Of course I'll eventually have to deleted the ones I saved as book material.
